Wool and Paper with leather handles

Our market baskets are now also available in wool. Market baskets with short handles make wonderful tote bags and storage baskets. You can use them as shopping baskets and to store everything from toys to newspapers and magazines.

Our Pamba baskets combine two natural materials, wool yarn and paper twine. Thanks to this unique material combination, the baskets are flexible and soft to the touch. These baskets come in different weaving styles, and with short or long handles, or without handles. Wool is known as an insulating, durable and easy to care for natural material. The wool we use is surplus wool from carpet industry, and originally from New Zealand.

Beautiful Nordic design and skillful Kenyan weaving are the hallmarks of our wide-ranging basket collection. We work directly with women's groups in rural villages. Weaving provides safe work and reliable income for our artisans, and keeps the tradition alive. Each multifunctional basket is one-of-a-kind, handmade by a talented artisan, from the weave to the final stitching of the Mifuko label.
